Gorilla-mask bandit
MOST masked bandits wear a balaclava, but the person who burgled Rockhampton's Allenstown Hotel on Tuesday morning wore a gorilla mask.
Rockhampton police said about 2.30am on Tuesday the offender entered the premises and stole a quantity of alcohol.
They said CCTV footage would be released after further investigations.
It was one of a number of break-and-enters overnight, with nine others in numerous Park Avenue streets and at St Mary's School.
North Rockhampton Police Senior Sergeant Ben Carroll said it seemed to be one offender making his way through Park Avenue streets from 9pm to midnight.
"A car was stolen from a Buckle St address at 6.30am (yesterday) but was located an hour later and other items were stolen from other Park Avenue addresses including laptops," Sen Sgt Carroll said.
"We've been putting on extra staff to try and combat the spate of offences happening in the district," Sen Sgt Carroll said.
"And although the amounts of offences seem quite high, we've actually been at the same level since 2003, and are significantly lower than the '90s."
Anyone with information on these crimes should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
