Government to talk fuel excise with Senate crossbenchers
THE Abbott Government will start talks with Senate crossbenchers next week to pass its budget agenda, after introducing bills to increase fuel excises.
Four bills to implement the budgeted return of indexed rises to fuel excise were introduced in parliament on Thursday, with one sitting week left to debate before the Senate changes hands.
But with Labor publicly opposed to the excise rises, and The Greens yet to declare their hand, it may come down to the Palmer United Party and independents.
