YOUR SAY: Govt ‘could’ve, would’ve’ on Eight Mile

MORE readers have taken to Facebook to have their say on the Eight Mile funding problems.

Following on from last week's stories, readers have once again reacted strongly to suggestions more funding was needed.

SPRINGBORG STILL FIGHTING FOR 8 MILE FIX

Paul Bateman said the intersection was already down to 60km/h and people should give it a break.

"If idiots cannot drive, then they should take a different way," he wrote.

Similar views were expressed by Crystal Fischer who said if people followed the road rules then the Eight Mile would be perfectly safe.

"I have driven this road a thousand times never once had a problem," she wrote.

"You know why? 'cause I friggin' stop and follow the speed limit.

"It's a pretty simple process."

Renae O'Dea said she physically couldn't understand what more could be done to the Eight Mile.

"The signs are clear and the speed limit is down," she said.

"If people aren't going to stop at a strop sign there is nothing they can do to the road to fix that."

Others pointed their fingers at the politicians over their role in the funding fight.

YOUR SAY: MIXED VIEWS ON EIGHT MILE FUNDING

Russell Bunker pointed the finger at Lawrence Springborg.

"He didn't fight too hard when he was in government," he wrote.

According to Ray Black, the Liberals did nothing when they were in power.

"Throw it under bad Labor's fault now," he wrote.

"It's always could've, would've with governments when they ousted but never do anything when they are in power."

There's many who say we shouldn't even bother trying to pressure the pollies.

"Labor won't give a toss - they don't get enough votes here to bother with our region," Graeme Carson wrote.

"Roll on the next election."

What other readers had to say

Robin Farrell: Just need a union rep to recommend it

Jeanette Lockley: If there's money to spend, it should be spent somewhere else more worthwhile. This intersection is perfectly safe if people just watch what they're doing.

Phil Gibbons: It doesn't seem that hard to drive through this intersection. Maybe when you do your driver's test, you are made to drive through there and if you can't handle it, you fail your test. What hope would you have driving in Brisbane or Sydney if you can't manage this intersection? We must look like dumb rednecks to people passing through the area.
