Graham gets 12 weeks for bite

CANTERBURY prop James Graham was suspended last night for 12 matches by the NRL judiciary for biting the Storm's Billy Slater in last Sunday's grand final.

The ban, which came after a hearing that lasted more than three hours, includes England's two upcoming Tests against Wales and France and two trial games for Canterbury.

That means Graham will be unable to return to the NRL until round nine of the 2013 season. Despite his not-guilty plea, he was found to have biten Slater on the left ear during a brawl in the first half.

Graham, 27, maintained his innocence throughout the hearing.

With a guilty plea, Graham may have been eligible for a 25% reduction on the final penalty.

Slater, who had complained on the field that he had been bitten, had blood coming from his ear after the incident.
