Graham ruled out of Origin II

CRONULLA Sharks second-rower Wade Graham's State of Origin debut has been put on hold after he failed to beat a grade one careless high-tackle charge at the NRL judiciary.

Graham received the charge for a high hit on the Cowboys' Johnathan Thurston on Monday, the same night he was told he was in the 17 for New South Wales for next week's second game of the Origin series at Suncorp Stadium.

The forward challenged the charge but the three-man jury in Sydney found Graham guilty.

Graham, who was represented by top lawyer Nick Ghabar, argued his initial contact was with the arm of a slipping Thurston and after the Queenslad star moved to his left, the high contact was "unavoidable".

"Obviously I am very disappointed to miss out on the game. There are not enough words to describe how disappointing this feeling is," Graham said after the hearing.

"I thought we went in there and we put forward a good argument.

"I got a fair hearing but unfortunately the decision did not go my way tonight, but it's important for me to move on go back to Cronulla, play good football and hopefully put my name in the ring again for game III."

Dragons forward Tyson Frizell has been named as Graham's replacement by New South Wales coach Laurie Daley.
