Grandkids win swag of pony club ribbons
FOR one Allora family there was plenty of horsing about at the local show yesterday.
Proud grandmother Bev Pendergast was ringside at the Allora Show watching six of her grandchildren compete in numerous horsing events.
All the grandchildren - three-year-old Charlie Murnane, five-year-old Reagan Pendergast, seven-year-old Georgia Pendergast, eight-year-old Georgia Feltham, 10-year-old Connor Feltham and 12-year-old Blake Feltham - won ribbons across the grounds.
Mrs Pendergast said her husband came from a horsing background, with many generations before him having involvement in everything from rodeo to campdrafting.
"Our son Darren, who was a farrier, continued on in that," she said.
"The grandkids all love horses."
Her grandchildren are all members of the Allora Pony Club, with Connor and Blake just starting out in campdrafting.
Connor won champion local boy rider at this year's event, with his brother Blake runner-up - a complete reversal of last year's results.
Sisters Reagan and Geor
gia placed first and second in an under-10 years riding class - Reagan on a 28-year-old mare called Mandy and Georgia on Mandy's daughter, a mare called Kelly.
Mrs Pendergast said the day of events was all about the children taking part in the activities.
"It makes us very proud of them to do so well and love what they're doing," she said.
The Allora family were among a large showing of competitors who travelled far and wide to compete in yesterday's events.
Competition continues today, with showjumping and horse ring events starting at 7.30am.
