Granite Belt set for a finely tuned weekend

CAR enthusiasts will hit the Granite Belt this weekend, with Pete’s Hot Rods’ annual Moonshine Run drawing people from far and wide.

Owner Pete Neale of Pete’s Hot Rods and Resto Shop said cars from Model T through to modern were welcome.

“We have about 150 cars coming – we even have people coming from overseas,” Pete said.

Pete said the event starts for car entrants with dinner at the workshop marquee on Friday night.

“We have a meet and greet with karaoke, bonfire and roast meal starting at 6.30pm,” he said.

“Saturday morning will start with breakfast then driving events. The cars will then cruise to the Ballandean Tavern for lunch, which is only a small cost.

“The cars will be on display in the main street of Stanthorpe from 2.30pm–4.30pm.

“Saturday night we have a rockabilly fashion parade, live band and dinner back at the workshop.”

On Sunday, the Applethorpe State School will host the car show and swap meet, raising money for the school by way of a gold coin donation from the public.

Tickets are $75 per person, including entertainment and some meals.
