Warwick football club to have its own inflatable pitch

WHEN the Warwick District Football Association run one of their training camps for their junior players, organisers are forced to compete for the one inflatable pitch used across the entire south-east region.

Coaching co-ordinator Tim Gaske said he was pleased to announce this will no longer be the case thanks to a $7,240 grant from the Holden Home Ground Advantage program.

The grant has been used to purchase the club's very own inflatable pitch to use at junior clinics and in school programs across the region.

Mr Gaske said the club needed its own pitch to ensure that the junior players had a safe area to practice.

"We strive to involve the whole community by running two-day holiday clinics each year, where we encourage everyone to come and try their hand, or foot, at soccer," he said.

"The inflatable pitch allows all kids up to the age of 13 to get in and have a go in a safe and fun environment.

"We want to run more clinics, get into schools in and around our district and get kids active while having fun."

General Manager of Warwick Holden Mick Dwan said clubs like the Warwick and District Football Association were the reason the Home Ground Advantage program was created.

"Local sporting clubs play a really important role within their communities and we are thrilled to help invest in their futures," Mick said.

"Most of Australia's great sporting icons started in a local club so it's great to give kids the opportunity to be the best they can.

Whether that's going on to play competitively or just enjoying the fun of the game."

Mr Gaske said Holden had already jumped on board as sponsors for the new pitch.

"When we visit other clubs and schools the pitch will be a great advertising tool for us," he said.

"We'R'Signs will be doing the signage on the pitch and Holden have already purchased two of the spaces.

"The pitch has a life of around ten years, so this will be the start of a great relationship with Holden."

In 2014 Holden committed $5 million over 10 years to its Home Ground Advantage program, which provides grants to community-based sporting clubs across Australia.

Twice a year, $250,000 of grants is awarded, with one major grant going to a project worth up to $100,000 in value.
