Grass fire damages cars
BREAKING NEWS: QUICK action by fire fighters with three units appears to have contained a fire bounded by Victoria, Canning and Albert sts, Warwick, at 4.45pm today.
The fire was behind a large number of businesses on the eastern side of Albion St, including Supercheap Auto.
Some of the same businesses have been hit hard by floods in the past three years.
The fire was fanned by winds and went into a small section at the back of Benz Auto Dismantlers.
A spokeswoman for the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service said three vehicles in the wrecking yard were on fire.
"The fire was under control at 5.18pm, there were no injuries," she said.
Two Queensland Fire and Rescue Service units fought the blaze from the grass paddock and a smaller unit was inside the dismantlers yard.
Eleven fire fighters, both permanent and auxiliaries, were on the scene.
The fire was not near any buildings.
Warwick police were also on the scene.
