Grass fire on the Granite Belt on a cool Sunday afternoon

UPDATE: A grass fire in Watters Rd, Ballandean, was quickly extinguished by firefighters on arrival at the fire on Sunday afternoon.

There was no property damaged with only grass on the side of the road burnt.

EARLIER: TWO Queensland Fire and Emergency Service units are on their way to a small grass fire in the Granite Belt.

The fire started from a backfiring ride on lawnmower.

The property owners reported the fire at 2pm and the Ballandean Rural Fire Brigade was called.

"An urban unit from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service in Stanthorpe is also on the way to the fire,” a QFES spokesman said.

"There are no buildings under threat as far as we know.”
