Great light show but very little rain
THE storms this week put on some fantastic light shows and ruffled more than a few leaves but the short lived fronts failed to produce much rain.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Brett Harrison said wind gusts of up to 48kmh were recorded during the height of Tuesday night's storm.
And Warwick SES group leader Matt Sondergeld was surprised his and the team did not receive a call out.
"It was pretty windy (Tuesday) night," Mr Sondergeld said.
"I went to bed with the call-out phone next to my bed, waiting for it to ring and I was surprised when it didn't."
With storm season well on the way Mr Sondergeld said it was important people started to take the usual steps such as cleaning out their gutters, picking up debris and securing loose items in the back yard.
Mr Harrison said only 5mm of rain fell in Warwick on Tuesday night, with close to triple that falling around the Allora area and 13mm in Pittsworth and Toowoomba.
And while the senior forecaster said there was a shower or two expected to hit Warwick this morning it once again would not produce much.
"A cool south-westerly change is move through (today) which will bring cooler mornings," Mr Harrison said.
"The temperatures will start to warm up during the day though, with a top of 33 degrees expected on Monday."
