Green claims a final berth

WARWICK Green beat Warwick White by two points in the reserve-grade preliminary final in the Ag Requirements Regional Basketball League at WIRAC on Saturday night.

White wanted a win after losing both games in the regular season to Green but Greens determination to show their dominance prevailed.

Outstanding player for the night went to PJ Siulai who was all over the court, not only putting away baskets but giving assists and playing good defensive ball.

Kevin Globio was all fired up as usual and was up and down the court with speed. Unfortunately the fast pace of this game even defeated him with several shots not making the hole due to excellent defensive play from Green.

Captain-coach Darren Byrne was instrumental in White's strong showing. His guidance on court is an asset to the team and his three-point shooting was outstanding. The "old man" of the team Col O'Brien showed that age doesn't mean a thing on a basketball court, showing the young ones around him how it's done.

Green simply had it together on the night, with Duncan McKenzie showing some fancy moves under the hoop.

Josh Cremasco was firing as was Rick Mutzelburg. The whole Green team simply wanted it more.

Green now go into the grand final in Toowoomba on December 10 undefeated for the season.

It just remains to be seen whether they face Warwick White or Dalby who meet in the elimination final in a fortnight in Toowoomba.

The Warwick Wildcats A-grade side also play an elimination final on the same program.
