Gremlins to train with Bushrangers

SIX Stanthorpe players will join the Border Bushrangers rugby league team for a development squad training camp today at Sullivan Oval, Stanthorpe, from 10.30am.

The camp will be under the direction of Border coach Peter Shatte and regional development officer Carlo Napolitano.

Due to a clash with the Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival, six Stanthorpe players – Nathan Shatte, Leon Karina, Jason Wilmot, Darrell Chapman, Matthew Hendry and Pat Toohey – were unable to play in the Border team against Warwick Cowboys in the Sinclair Byrne Benefit match and have been added to the squad.

The development squad concept is not just for this season but is being used by the league to develop players for representative footy in years to come.

The league camp will be held before the annual round robin event between the five Border teams at Stanthorpe today from 2pm.

Inglewood has an influx of Millmerran players this season.

Round robin draw: 2pm Stanthorpe v Tenterfield; 2.50pm Killarney v Inglewood; 3.40pm Tenterfield v Texas; 4.30pm Stanthorpe v Killarney; 5.20pm Inglewood v Texas; 6.30pm Final.
