Grounds delight our Irish visitors

WARWICK'S polocrosse grounds have the 'best set up in the world', according to Irish coach Avis Wotton, who has travelled far and wide playing her favourite sport.

Wotton has played for both the Australian and Irish sides, and said that Morgan Park offered a fantastic place to compete.

"It's just the way all the horses are so accessible and it's easy for travelling teams because the fields are right there," she said.

"We also have such a supportive team."

Wotton is also full of praise for the on-site staff at the grounds.

"They're absolutely brilliant - they've been helping out immensely," she said.

Everything is running smoothly so far for the Irish team, with under-21 player Joanne Lavery excited to compete.

"I love team sports, and I've made some really good friends," she said.

"The grounds are unbelievable, it's such a good set up."

"Everything's good with the horses."

Lavery said there have been no problems so far, except for a bit of a hassle at customs when they flew into Australia.

"It was a bit hard getting the saddles and everything through quarantine."

Irish U16 captain Toby Fynn said the team was looking forward to the weekend, despite the jet lag from travelling.

"The Aussies are really welcoming and everyone's been really nice.

"The field is a lot bigger with wide open spaces," Fynn said.
