Goondiwindi sex assault before court

A MAN accused of sexually assaulting a sleeping Goondiwindi woman in her home remains behind bars.

The 33-year-old was arrested back in October and has been in police custody since.

He is accused of removing glass louvres to gain entry to the house at about 11.30pm on October 25 before assaulting the woman in her bed.

He was located by police three days later and has since been charged with two counts of sexual assault.

During proceedings in the Warwick Magistrates Court this week, the man's lawyer told the court she had yet to visit with her client in jail to receive formal instructions.

She asked the matter be adjourned for a month to allow her time to do so.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey ordered the matter be mentioned in the court again on Mach 12.

The man did not make an application for bail.
