Gymnastic club ready for new season sign on

GYMNASTICS: The Warwick Gymnastic Club has its doors open for new members at its sign-on tomorrow from 9am-noon this Saturday.

Last year, the club had 165 members and president Coby Walker said he was confident of passing 200 this year.

"Other than a few members who have moved town with their parents, all last year's members will be back,” he said.

"We had to limit some classes last year but with our gymnastics hall doubled in size last year, we will have additional positions available for gymnasts.”

There is a lot of interest in adult classes and a new class for tiny tumblers (18 months to school age).

Walker said the adult class was each Monday from 6.30pm under instructor Ken Laws.

"We are getting 15 to 18 at adult classes each week and the plan is to have an additional night when we attract more numbers,” he said.

"The adult class initially included a lot of fitness work but they are now more on gymnastics skills.

"The class is good for fitness.”

The 10 club coaches will be at the sign-on Saturday morning to meet the children, parents and adults.

Children new to the sport will start at level 1 with one or two days of training each week.

The club is hoping to host four competitions this year, including the regional championships.

All welcome on Saturday to the gym hall in Easey St, turn off the highway to Inglewood near the Main Roads depot. Information 46619826 (afternoons) or Walker on 0412521438.
