Gymnastics returns to Stanthorpe YMCA

GYMNASTICS: After a six year absence, Stanthorpe YMCA has announced the return of gymnastics in 2017.

YMCA executive officer Steve McEvoy said the sport had not been available there since the 2011 floods ravaged the building.

"The floods of 2011 played a significant part in the cancellation of our gymnastics program,” McEvoy said.

"We lost most of our gymnastics equipment, the floors took 12 months to repair but more significantly we lost our instructors during that period.

"It was a real shame as we had over 100 girls in the program at that stage.

"However our luck has changed with the recent arrival of a passionate and enthusiastic instructor to the district.

"Stacy Robson's resume in gymnastics is high quality, previously a Level 10 gymnastic (highest level possible) and now a qualified coach with over 10 years experience.”

McEvoy said they expected strong interest in gymnastics, but class sizes would be limited.
