Hair salon and Lions help parched Cloncurry farmers

DROUGHT-STRICKEN farmers in the Cloncurry region are about to receive a generous donation from a joint fundraising effort from local business Clare's Hair Together and the Warwick Lions Club.

Owner of Clare's Hair Together and Lions club member Clare Jeffries decided to run a raffle to raise money for the Cloncurry drought relief appeal with support from the Warwick Lions Club.

Warwick Lions have agreed to match the money raised dollar for dollar.

Mrs Jeffries said that what goes around comes around, and if everyone did just a little bit to assist with the drought appeal the country would be a lot better off.

"The raffle was a salon project and I am pleased all 14 staff got behind it and encouraged our clients to buy raffle tickets," she said.

"I would also like to thank our valued clients for supporting the raffle for such a great cause."

Keeping it real for the community, Australian owned De Lorenzo hair products donated merchandise to the value of over $300 for the raffle.

The hair company is proud to claim that ingredients for their products are sourced from indigenous outback farmers.

Mrs Jeffries also donated a $50 hair voucher to complete the prize.

The raffle was run over a three-week period and has resulted in $602 being raised. Marie Galloway was the lucky winner of the hair care basket and the proceeds of the raffle would be sent directly to the Cloncurry drought relief appeal.
