Hannah: a small girl with a lot of fight

WITH a killer Muaythai combo and a passion for surf life saving, Hannah Bradicich is a force to be reckoned with.

The 12-year-old Caloundra State High School student has just returned with a silver medal from the International Federation Muaythai Amateur world titles in Malaysia.

Hannah made the Australian team after the national championships in December.

Having only joined the Sunshine Coast Thai Boxing Centre three years ago, it was Hannah's first world titles and is something the avid athlete said she will strive to repeat.

"It was great over there ... very long days but it's such a fun sport with great discipline," Hannah said.

"I fought against a Turkey girl ... it was a tough fight and she came out very strong and was very experienced so she ultimately won, but it was a great experience. I lasted all three rounds."

Although Hannah is only new to the world of Muaythai she is an old hand when it comes to surf life saving.

In the coming season she will be the Dicky Beach Surf Club's female Nipper club captain, having been voted by her peers.

"I've been doing this for seven years and competing at carnivals and I've made a lot of friends. It was one of the first sports that I ever started," Hannah said.

Hannah's mum Karen Bradicich said she couldn't be prouder of her daughter and was happy to see the skills she is acquiring in surf life saving and Muaythai transferring into other aspects of her life.

"We are so proud of the dedication and commitment that we see in her,'' Karen said.

"In the lead-up to the world titles she was training at 4am every morning and 4pm every afternoon.

"She has been so disciplined because she had to cut some weight as well to go into her weight class, and over Easter too, so she stayed away from the chocolate eggs.''

Hannah said she wanted to send a huge thank you to her trainer, Joe Hilton.
