Happy campers at Lake Leslie ground

HUNDREDS of campers descended on Leslie Dam at the weekend to spend the Easter break by the water.

Lake Leslie Tourist Park owner Adam Bennett said, despite the weather, the park attracted many visitors over the long weekend.

"We've had a beautiful bunch of campers this weekend," Mr Bennett said.

"Considering the weather we've had a few cancellations but most braved it."

The popular spot attracts watersports lovers and seasoned campers alike, and Mr Bennett was happy with this Easter's outcome.

"I would say the number of guests is on par with last year," he said.

"If it weren't for the weather we probably would have had more, but we've had a lovely weekend with a good bunch of people."

The tourist park got its usual fill of live entertainment over the weekend, and also had a new attraction.

"We had Wanted Dead or Alive play on Saturday night, they play here every Easter and New Year," Mr Bennett said.

"We also tried out a hot food van for the first time and that did really well with the campers."

Mr Bennett said the picturesque location attracted all sorts of campers who came to celebrate Easter on the lake.

"We do get a lot of campers coming for the watersports, but also those who come for the atmosphere and quietness," he said.

"We must be doing something right because we've already got bookings for New Year's and Easter 2016."

From those getting in touch with nature or giving their jet ski a good workout, Mr Bennett thanks all the campers who turned out to the Lake Leslie Tourist Park for the long weekend.

"From Adam and Caroline, a big thanks to all the campers who braved the elements to stay with us."
