Have mobile bowls green, will travel far

THE world's only mobile bowls green will be at Leslie Park today at the initiative of the Warwick East Bowls Club.

The mobile green, set up inside a bus with the seats removed, has been as far south as Victoria and was recently in the Wide Bay area of Queensland.

Warwick East Bowls Club member Graeme Carson said he saw information on the mobile lawn bowls green on Facebook and contacted the Warwick helloworld store.

The mobile green will be in Stanthorpe this morning and at Leslie Park, opposite Bunnings, from 12.30-2pm today.

The promotion has been organised by helloworld in conjunction with AAT Kings and the Warwick East Bowls Club.

Club women's president Margaret Wright said members of all bowls clubs and prospective new members were welcome to have a look at the mobile lawn bowls green and have a go at the sport.

"It is a big bus set up with a bowls green and everyone can try bowls," Wright said.

"Come and get a feel of what it is like to play bowls."

There will be promotional material available today from the Warwick East club and Bowls Queensland.

"Bowls is for people of all ages ... our club has operated for 77 years," she said.

There will be a $200 voucher giveaway. The Warwick Lions Club is organising a sausaze sizzle for a gold coin donation.
