Motorcyclist killed in Morgan Park crash

MOTORCYCLE enthusiasts are today mourning the loss of one of their own after a rider was killed in a practice session at Morgan Park Raceway yesterday.

The 62-year-old Brisbane rider crashed into the tyre wall at Turn Eight at the raceway just after 11am.

He died on impact.

Riders at the track were shocked and stunned to hear the news after the crash.

Warwick police acting officer in charge Shane Reid told the Daily News police and ambulance crews had attended the scene.

Acting Snr Sgt Reid said the track was closed immediately after the death and the practice session cancelled.

"The man was riding a high-powered motorcycle when it left the track and hit the tyre wall," he said.

"There were other riders on the track at the time but no one else was injured."

Acting Snr Sgt Reid said police were investigating the cause of the crash.

Workplace Health and Safety officers were called to the site to investigate the incident.

Police will compile results from both investigations and submit a report to the coroner.
