Motoring enthusiast to talk cars
HE grew up with a torch in one hand and a spanner in the other by his dad’s side, a motor mechanic, under a vehicle.
No one would be more appropriate to write a column for the Daily News’ new and improved Car Guide than Greg Newey.
“I am a long-time motoring enthusiast. I have been interested in cars my whole life,” Mr Newey said.
“I have followed the car industry as vehicles evolved to what they are today.”
Mr Newey has been an eager historic racing car driver for about 10 years in his classic MG sports car and is a regular at the annual Leyburn Sprints. He owned his first car at 15, which he spent two years rebuilding and has owned dozens of cars ever since.
“I have owned just about every make and model of vehicle – Fords, Holden’s, MG and Jaguars,” he said.
Mr Newey will take readers through the ins and outs of vehicles through the eyes of a local motorist.
“I’ll be reviewing motor cars new and second hand and will give a local slant on it. I will test drive the cars that are offered from the various dealers, then give a review of the vehicle through the eyes of a local,” Mr Newey said.
