A DOG with a background in cruelty is aiming for a second chance in life.

Southern Downs Ark is hoping it can find a loving home for an 18-month old dog.

"Hope was dumped in the pound with two other pups, one of which was dead and the other was dying,” Southern Downs Ark president Ann Simon said.

"We discovered later she was pregnant and went on to produce seven healthy pups,” Ms Simon said.

"She needs a special home where she can be a constant companion to somebody as she is an escape artist if left alone.

"She has a beautiful nature and loves people. She actually squeals with delight when you visit her.”
