Hearts open to fulfil wedding wish for mum with cancer

THE generosity of Mackay, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast small businesses has surpassed the expectations of Sheree McLeod and Alana McMullen.

The Daily Mercury told Ms McLeod's story on Saturday and the young mother's battle with a rare and aggressive cancer has touched the hearts of people across the state.

To create a special memory for her two boys, Lachlan, 6, and Riley, 5, the former Mackay woman hopes to marry her long-time partner Wade.

That's how Ms McMullen from the charity Tink's Wish List came on board. She's trying to make Ms McLeod's dream come true.

Since the story went to print, Ms McMullen said offers had been flowing in.

"It's only been two days and we've already had so many donations," she said yesterday.

A bridal shop in Brisbane has offered to donate the dress, but the generosity doesn't stop there. Tink said almost the entire wedding has been covered from venue donations in both the Sunshine Coast and Mackay, to invitations, flowers, make-up artists, hairdressers and celebrants to personalised cake toppers.

When and where the wedding will be held will depend on the PET results Ms McLeod is waiting on.

Men's suits are one of the few items yet to be donated. For information on how you can help search "Tink's Wish List" on Facebook.
