Heat ready for clash with Perth on Friday night at Gabba
CRICKET: Warwick paceman Mark Steketee will be back in action when the Brisbane Heat take on the Perth Scorchers in the most eagerly awaited game so far in this season's KFC Big Bash League at the Gabba on Friday night.
Perth are the defending premiers and are unbeaten after four games this season.
On Tuesday night, the Heat cruised to their asking target of 141 against Melbourne Stars at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with half centuries to captain Brendon McCullum and batsman Chris Lynn complementing an excellent bowling effort by leg spinners Mitch Swepson and Yasir Shah.
Swepson had his best bowling performance in the BBL, taking 3-14 from four overs, while Shah had 1-14 from four overs.
McCullum scored 61 from 30 balls while fellow "Bash Brother” Lynn a composed unbeaten half century, his slowest in the BBL to date, on the way to 63 not out from 46 balls.
Joe Burns also contributed a tidy 18 not out.
The Heat trained at 2pm on Thursday at the Gabba, a session which coincided with an Australian Under-19 team training session.
In the WBBL, Warwick all rounder Delissa Kimmince and her Brisbane Heat teammates will head to Hobart on Sunday and Monday for games against the Hobart Hurricanes.
The Heat will be aiming to do what they did in Adelaide last weekend, record two wins in the double header.
