Heat sweats on replacement for spinner

THE Brisbane Heat is seeking an international replacement for spinner Samuel Badree, who will miss at least two weeks after tearing a hamstring during his side's loss to the Sydney Sixers on Tuesday night at the Gabba.

Scans have confirmed he has a grade one hamstring strain, meaning he is likely to miss the Heat's home and away matches against the Perth Scorchers tonight at the WACA and next Wednesday at the Gabba.

Team physiotherapist Martin Love described the hamstring injury as minor.

"It's at the lesser end of the scale so we will work now on getting Samuel strong and ready to play again in the back end of the tournament,'' he said.

Heat coach Dan Vettori said an international replacement player would be sought to replace Badree while he was injured.

"We are down the track in terms of identifying a player who will be available for us and will progress that as promptly as we can,'' he said.

Following next Wednesday's match, the Heat has a six-day break before playing the Melbourne Stars at the MCG on Tuesday, January 17, before hosting the Melbourne Renegades at the Gabba on Friday, January 20.

Heat side for tonight's clash: Brendon McCullum (c), Xavier Bartlett, Nick Buchanan, Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Jason Floros, Chris Lynn, Jimmy Peirson, Nathan Reardon, Alex Ross, Mark Steketee, Mitch Swepson, Jack Wildermuth (12th man to be named at the toss).
