Heavens to open this week
THANES Creek primary producer Andrew Costello will be buoyed by the weather forecast this week - a good chance of more than 100mm of rain on the Southern Downs and Granite Belt.
Mr Costello said he received 150mm rain in December and conditions were good until a hot week in January.
"The hot weather dried things out, creeks need a good flush out," he said.
"They are talking rain. We hope to get a decent break this week."
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Brett Harrison said there was an increasing tendency towards rain later today as well as isolated thunderstorms.
"Rain areas will ease early Tuesday before showers and thunderstorms later in the day," Mr Harrison said.
The forecast is for scattered showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday.
Mr Harrison said there was a good chance of more than 100mm rain by the end of the week.
"I would think it would be heaviest on Wednesday," he said.
Children returning to school or starting this week will appreciate moderate temperatures for this time of the year.
Today the forecast is for a minimum of 17 degrees and a maximum of 28.
It will be 19 to 27 degrees tomorrow, 18 to 25 on Wednesday, and 19 to 27 on Thursday.
