Helen stars on course at Warwick Golf Club
GOLF: Helen Olsen finished the 2017 golfing year with two wins at the Warwick Golf Club.
She won the Warwick RSL Brooch of Brooches play-off.
Olsen won the brooch competitions in August and November and then last month won the play-off.
She also won the Gillam Memorial trophy for Wednesday points and the Saturday eclectic competition. Players are allocated points each Wednesday during the year for placings.
The eclectic competition is tallied all year by club member Marj Burley and is based on the best score for the year on each hole by each player.
Handicaps are taken into account in determining the winners and Olsen won A grade with a 65 gross and 56.05 nett.
Olsen has played at the Warwick Golf Club since she returned home from Canada in 1982.
"I play each Wednesday and Saturday,” she said.
"I don't practise, I just take what comes.”
Away from her golf clubs, Olsen heads to the Warwick Golf Club on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons each week to work on the gardens at the clubhouse and on the first tee.
"I quite enjoy gardening and someone has to do the gardens at the club,” she said.
"Some members help me at times.”
