Help our sports guru out - your tip needed urgently

RUGBY LEAGUE: Daily News sports editor Gerard Walsh has a problem.

His league betting budget is $20 for the NRL grand final on Sunday and he doesn't know which team to back.

He is seeking help from readers to bet on the likely winner as he is getting a bit carried away with the emotion of the decision.

And before everyone else started betting on the footy, remember to bet responsibly.

Who should our sports guru back in NRL grand final?

This poll ended on 02 October 2016.

Current Results

Melbourne Storm

100%

Cronulla Sharks

0%

This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.

His heart says go for Cronulla Sharks as the shire has yet to win a premiership in almost 50 years but Melbourne is the fourth "Queensland" team in the NRL.

He remembers all the jokes about Queensland never winning the Sheffield Shield in cricket and doesn't want the Sharks to go any longer without a premiership.

But then he isn't a fan of a Cronulla forward who shall remain nameless.

The nameless forward captained a team in blue that didn't listen to the speech of winning Queensland State of Origin captain Cameron Smith this season.

"I don't want to see the Cronulla forward who shall remain nameless celebrating after a grand final win," Walsh said.

"But then I want to see all of the Cronulla fans celebrating. Hooker Mick Ennis might sledge a bit too much for my liking but I like his passion for the game."

Thinking again, how can Walsh go against the Melbourne Storm with all those Queenslanders, the ones he texts each day in the run up to Origin?

There is Cam, Cooper and co. He always backs the Queenslanders.

Walsh is at a loose end so we're asking your help to guide his decision on what to do with his $20.

Politicians take notice of opinion polls so our sports editor is going to do the same thing.

Vote for Melbourne or Cronulla to help him make his biggest investment this weekend.

But as always, gamble responsibly.
