Helping hand for students
THE Salvation Army has been working hard to relieve back to school pressures, providing more than $600 in stationery for Warwick East students.
A donation box set up in Rose City Shoppingworld was flooded with donations from generous locals.
Warwick East chaplain Donna Angell said she and principal Warren Elder were grateful to the Salvation Army for their help in getting students back to school with the right gear.
"While beginning a new school year can be exciting, it can also be a daunting experience for some students," Mrs Angell said.
"It is also a time when families move to more suitable accommodation and this can be an unsettling and costly process."
Mr Angell said she would like to thank the people, churches and businesses who assisted in the program.
"The result is happy, thankful children and the teachers are also appreciative - it allows them to get on with the job of teaching."
Captain Mark Williamson said the work was a joint effort.
"While the school wouldn't be able to do it without us, we wouldn't be able to do it without the level of community support we receive," he said.
