Helping rescue service
THE RACQ CareFlight Rescue flew to the aid of 456 critically ill or injured patients in the last financial year, with 371 of these missions (81%) occurring in the south west.
Of the missions, 278 were inter-hospital transfers from regional hospitals to Brisbane, Toowoomba and the Gold Coast, and 132 involved the chopper landing at the scene of a serious accident or emergency.
Thirty-two babies were airlifted during neo-natal missions, and 14 search and rescue missions were performed.
CareFlight is seeking some dedicated volunteers to be part of the team.
Volunteer Roles include helping out on-site at local fundraising events, guest speaking about CareFlight's services to community groups and placing and collecting donation tins at local retail outlets.
