Heritage festival wraps up

THE first Southern Downs Heritage Festival is fast coming to a close but there are still a number of activities and events to check out this weekend.

Warwick and District Historical president Janice Flood said she was pleased to see various groups work together to produce a heritage event with a personal touch.

"People have enjoyed that there's so much to do and some have extended their bookings at local accommodation," Mrs Flood said.

"Warwick Artists Group commented on how many people have come through to their exhibition and Glengallan said they've done really well.

"It's that kind of busyness we were hoping for but weren't sure we'd get for the first one."

Today, the Warwick Artists Group's Works from the Vaults exhibition, Stanthorpe Heritage Museum, Glengallan Homestead and Abbey of the Roses will be open for tours.

The Southern Downs Steam Railway precinct will also be open for tours, today and tomorrow, 10am to 3pm and the Sandstone Railway goods shed on Sunday, 10am to noon.

Phone Destination Southern Downs on 46619073 today to book for the final cemetery walk with Fran tomorrow from 10am to noon.
