NEW teachers have flooded in the doors of Warwick State High School this week, eager to get the 2012 school year under way.

Ten fresh faces will be at the helm of a number of classrooms on Monday, some with years of teaching experience and others taking their first steps out of university.

James Davis, a recent graduate from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, will teach maths and science, along with Donna Baldock who moved to Warwick from Mirani, near Mackay, bringing with her 13 years of experience.

Another teacher who is no stranger to the whiteboard, Karen Jones, said she was excited to mingle with the locals.

"I'm very excited to meet the students and get to know them," Mrs Jones said.

Locals Jo Turner and Jody Jarrett will join the Special Education Unit and Anthony Ulrich has taken on the role of computer assistant after graduating from WSHS last year.

Megan Aston has traded bustling Brisbane for the Rose City and will teach English and Study of Society (SOSE).

Kerri-ann Smith and Rachel Parry have also made a locality swap - Ms Smith from Middlemount and Ms Parry from Moranbah.

Originally from Perth, Dane King moved to Clifton a year ago, but decided to join the WSHS team, teaching English, SOSE and physical education.

Mr King said he could not wait to immerse himself in the community.

"Most of us will probably be here when they integrate the Year 7s too, which is exciting," Mr King said.

This year marks the school's centenary and all teachers were thrilled to be a part of the significant celebration.
