Highfields forfeits to Wattles

IN A RARE A-grade forfeit in the Toowoomba Rugby League competition, Highfields forfeited to Wattles in the round at Highfields yesterday.

Forfeits in A-grade are virtually unheard of in the TRL and are more frequent in lower grades.

The Wattles club was advised at 4pm Friday that Highfields had forfeited the game.

Wattles won the reserve grade game 36-26 to stay in the top five.

Anthony McIntosh scored two tries and kicked four goals to take his season tally well past 300 points in all grades.

Brandon Cubby scored a double, Walter McIntosh, Lauchlan Hoey and Dean Cubby scored tries.

Jordan Henry was player of the match and received great support from Justin Van Der Poel and players’ player Dean Cubby.

Wattles went down 54-18 to Highfields.

Michael Nauchucz, Carl Gale and John Sharpe scored tries. Anthony McIntosh landed two goals and Brandon Cubby one.

Josh Henry was best for Wattles with Jim Johnston and players’ player Gale going well.

Two weeks of fixtures remain before the start of the finals series.
