Highway reopened after two crashes at sunflower field
UPDATE 6.30pm: The New England Highway has reopened following two separate crashes near Geitz Rd this afternoon.
Five people were taken to Warwick Hospital in a stable condition following the incidents.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 4.15pm after a rollover on the highway.
But before they arrived, a second crash occurred in the same location.
The second crash was a two-vehicle collision.
The highway was initially blocked but has now been opened to traffic.
INITIAL 4.30pm: Delays are expected on the New England Highway after two car crashes within a few minutes near a sunflower field.
Emergency services were first called to a vehicle rollover on the highway near Geitz Rd about 4.15pm.
A spokesman from Queensland Ambulance Services said before paramedics arrived a second crash was reported in the same location.
The second crash involved two vehicles.
The spokesman said the person involved in the first rollover was uninjured but paramedics were assessing five vehicle occupants from the second crash.
All patients are reportedly in a stable condition but multiple people are expected to require transported to hospital, he said.
Police and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are also at the scene.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads have advised that lanes on the New England Highway have been blocked in both directions and delays were expected.
