Hinze hits Warwick rivals for six to equal winning record

SAM Hinze has won her sixth successive title to equal the record in Warwick women's A-grade golf.

Hinze led from the start to win with a score of 335 in 72 holes.

Her best was round two when she hit 76.

Her best shot was an eagle on the par-five sixth during her 76.

"It is overwhelming to join top players Cheryl Sternberg and Joyce Horgan with six victories," Hinze said.

"I am happy with six but if I am lucky enough to win another one, that will be a bonus."

Judy Lester was second with 352 and won veterans.

In B-grade, Molly Seibel was the winner with a score of 376, one shot ahead of Jill Barnes.

Marge Burley won C-grade, hitting 449 gross, an outstanding effort for a player in her 80s.

Women's captain Annice Payne said the players had all commented on the beautiful course for the championships.

"The weather wasn't too bad for the fourth round with only the A-grade players being in the late afternoon rain," Payne said.

In men's, Nathan Dionysius hit 292 to win by two shots from Luke Munro.

It is the first A-grade win for the golfer who travels from the Lockyer Valley to play in Warwick.

Brendon Jones won his first B grade title at the club with 330.

Neil Carney was victorious with 353 in the battle for the C-grade title and made it two victories in the past three years.

Nathan Jones with 301 was the best junior and Al Thornton won veterans with 318.
