Historic car racers keen to hit track in early May

MOTORSPORT: The Historic Racing Car Club of Queensland is organising the Autumn Historic Warwick meeting on May 4-5 at Morgan Park.

Motorsport is in a break at Morgan Park Raceway due to the Polocrosse World Cup but will gear up again when 150drivers head to the historics in early May.

Club vice-president Peter Walsh said drivers would come from as far as South Australia, Victoria and north Queensland.

"Mark Goldsmith is coming from South Australia with an Elfin V8 sports car,” Walsh said.

"This is his first time with the Elfin but he has been to historic meetings in the past. He will compete with two more big banger sports cars, Tom Tweedy in an Elfin MS7 and Dan Nolan in a Nola.

"His father Alan Nolan built the car and called it a Nola. It is similar to a British Lola.”

Practice will be on May 3 and racing all weekend.

Admission $20 a day, concession $15 a day, under-15 free.
