Historic third successive win for Warwick rider at Mt Isa

RODEO: Warwick cowboy Michael Maher has done something rarely achieved in rodeo - won three successive titles in the one event at the Mt Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo.

Maher scored 75 to win the open saddle bronc round and another 75 in the final this afternoon to win overall.

The win gives Warwick riders both saddle bronc titles after Lachlan Miller won second-division earlier in the weekend.

There was more success for the Southern Downs with Fred Osman from the Gore area splitting first overall with Wandoan cowboy Dave Worsford in bareback.

In timed events, Warwick rider Kobe Miller and Heath Kimber won the second round of team roping. Kobe's father Jeff Miller joined with Jesse Townsend to finish second in the second round. Kobe won the junior team roping heeler buckle at Mt Isa.
