History on the line for hopeful Wattles

WATTLES' 50th anniversary could be even more momentous if the Warriors beat Dalby in Sunday's TRL grand final at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

The club that represents Allora and Clifton is celebrating its 50th year and the festivities will roll on until the final game of the season.

Wattles took out the Hutchinson Builders TRL Premiership minor premiership and are one win away from retaining the Hutchies-Chronicle Cup.

Wattles back-rower and club president Aaron Scheid was excited about the chance to play in another grand final as the Warriors try to defend the A grade title for the first time in the club's history.

"It is great to be in the grand final again in our 50th year," Scheid said.

"In the 50 years of Wattles, no team has gone back-to-back so that is something we want to do."

Scheid was happy to have had last weekend off after Wattles was the first team into the decider as he expected a torrid battle up the middle against Dalby.

"I believe it is going to be won and lost in the forward pack," he said. "Both teams have big forward packs but are mobile."

Two of those Dalby forwards will be familiar foes as Pat and Xavier Manley will line-up for the Diehards on Sunday after helping Wattles win last year's grand final.
