Wagons, historical activities ready for Heavy Horse Day

MICK Bradford is hoping visitors in town for the Warwick Campdraft and Rodeo will bolster crowds at his annual charity Heavy Horse Day on Sunday.

After his May event was washed out, the Yangan heavy horse lover is hoping to go just as big as previous years.

As many as 1000 people are expected at Mr Bradford's Yangan property on Sunday, and they're certainly in for a treat.

"Hopefully there will be a fancy wagon here with a team of horses," he said.

"I'll have eight horses going in a big wagon with 16 bales of wool on the back

"I've had the horses out on the road in the wagon and they're ready to go."

With a focus on horses and history, Mr Bradford will have various activities going on around the property.

"We'll have a couple of horses doing novelty events - obstacle courses and pumpkin snatch," he said

"After lunch we'll go into horse works - cutting firewood, chaff cutting and water pumping."

For families there will be a variety of stalls, food including pancakes and ice cream, a jumping castle for kids and blacksmith demonstrations.

"Hopefully we'll get a few people out from the rodeo," Mr Bradford said.

All money raised on the day will be donated to RACQ CareFlight.

The Heavy Horse Day begins at 9am at 122 Swanfels Rd, Yangan.
