Hockey victory against the Blues in the nationals
HOCKEY: Matt Hagenbach and Adam Byrne know what it is like to beat New South Wales - they played in the Queensland team that beat the Blues 4-1 in the over 35s hockey championships in Adelaide this week.
Queensland is looking good for a top-four finish.
Their game on Thursday was cancelled due to the wild weather in South Australia but they already have three wins and a draw in the championships.
Peter Andrews from Warwick is in the Queensland over 55s team that won first up this week before its game on Wednesday was not played due to a blackout in Adelaide.
Warwick forward Rob Pohlman is also playing in the nationals in Adelaide, his 14th at masters level but, like in all age groups, weather has intervened in this week's action in South Australia.
Pair in WA
TWO Warwick players are in Queensland under-13 hockey teams playing in the nationals in Western Australia this week.
Bailey Rutledge and Jack Bergemann's team lost its first three games - two to Western Australian sides, and one to Victoria - this week.
Both boys are playing in the forwards for the Queensland Sabres and have been part of the starting side early in the championships.
They have two games today, including a game against the Queensland Cutters.
The U13 national carnival will finish at the end of next week.
The U13s are playing in Perth at the same time as the Australian Hockey League is held, in which former Warwick junior Lee Bodimeade is the Queensland Scorchers women's team coach.
