Holiday up for grabs at golf day

KEN Burley reckons his odds are 1000-to-one of hitting a hole-in-one on the 13th on Sunday to win a five-day Gold Coast holiday donated by the Daily News for the annual Warwick Friendly Society Pharmacies Golf Day.

All money raised will go to the Akooramak Home for the Aged.

Burley first joined the Warwick Golf Club 46 years ago and has since played, on average, twice a week.

In more than 4500 rounds, he has hit one hole-in-one on the 13th but as the shot was in social play, it was not recorded on the honour board.

He has been within 20cm of a competition hole-in-one a dozen times.

Burley said most of his close shots were on the 13th and 16th but his driving range of 200m gave him a chance on six holes.

More nominations are welcome for a four-ball ambrose with shot gun start at 10.30am for 11am. Bookings on 4661 3664.

If not won, the Daily News holiday will be auctioned after play.
