HOME GAME: Cowboys out to remain firmly in finals contention

RUGBY LEAGUE: Warwick Cowboys fans have another opportunity to watch their team, against Toowoomba side Southern Suburbs tomorrow.

Matches at Father Ranger Oval kick off at 10.10am with the second division game, followed by under-18s at 11.30am, reserve grade at 1pm and the A-grade side from 2.30pm.

A-grade coach Phil Economidis said his team had pencilled in the match as a win.

"Souths are yet to win a game this season, but you've always got to be on your guard with these supposedly easy match-ups,” he said.

"It's a good chance for the boys to really work on getting their set plays and combinations in order.”

Economidis said the mood among the players was great.

"We've all been training hard, there's a lot of potential across the board,” he said.

"In A-grade, we've still got a few significant injuries to overcome, but having seen a few of the other teams in the competition, I think there's probably more improvement left in our team than any other I've seen.”

The Warwick Cowboys A-grade side sits fourth on the ladder on eight points, only two points below top spot.

Under-18 coach Matt Grew was confident his young charges had what it took to play finals football.

"We've had some tough games, but there's still room for a lot of improvement,” he said.

"Once they realise they've got what it takes, they will be very hard to beat - it'll be a big game this weekend.”
