Hooked on Jumpers and Jazz
THE Warwick Spinners and Weavers group doesn't just pull out the knitting needles and hooks in July, for these ladies every day may as well be Jumpers and Jazz.
With decades of experience between them, the group has put on workshops and demonstrations every day during the festival.
Nestled at Cafe Jacqui's, visitors are finding their way to the craft group pop-up shop, member Helen Kerr said.
"We get very different crowds this time of year, the young ones come in looking for the quirky designs and we see a lot of regular faces who come to town especially for Jumpers and Jazz,” Ms Kerr said.
As everyone gets into the woolly spirit, Ms Kerr said it encouraged more people to pick up a needle and hook.
"The festival is great and brings out everyone's creative side and encourages them to pick up a new craft skill,” she said.
Present at the pop-up shop is the Spinners and Weavers mascot, Matilda. The needle felted lamb was made by group members in the third year of Jumpers and Jazz and they haven't let her go.
"She comes with us everywhere, she's good company and the children love getting a photo with her,” group member Judy Donnelly said.
Jumpers and Jazz may be a lot of work for some but Ms Kerr said it was no effort when you were having fun.
