Business Excellence Awards

WINNING a Business Excellence Award on Saturday night would be a great first birthday present for the Hair Kreations girls.

Owner Natalie Ezzy, her five senior hairdressers and two apprentices have been hitting the Rose City shops looking for the perfect dresses to don for the glitzy event.

“We’re all really excited – we were very surprised to be nominated and now we’re really looking forward to Saturday night,” Mrs Ezzy said.

Hair Kreations is nominated in the New Business category, with Mrs Ezzy and her team celebrating their 12 months in Warwick next month.

“It’s going very well; I have an amazing team of girls – if it wasn’t for them there wouldn’t be a business,” she said.

“So Saturday night will be all about them and a great opportunity to show how appreciative I am for what they do.”

Mrs Ezzy did not have any big secrets of success being in a small community with a fair bit of competition in her field.

“I think a lot of it depends on your staff – prices are also a big part of your success,” she said.

“But from the feedback I’ve received from the community a lot of people enjoy our kids’ play area and have said the girls are really friendly... we’re very laid-back and customers feel comfortable talking to the girls.”

Business Excellence Awards committee chairman Danny Spry said the judges had difficulty choosing the final winners on Tuesday.

“The applicants – from Warwick, Killarney and Allora – varied from good to outstanding,” Mr Spry said.

“I think businesses are becoming more keen to be involved in the awards as the years go on because it really is a great opportunity for them to have a night out and let their hair down.”

The attire for those attending the 2010 Business Excellence Awards is formal or fancy in keeping with the Moulin Rouge theme.

Entertainment includes Big Top Entertainment, a troupe of five performing hula hoops, solo trapeze and juggling as well as the traditional can-can routine.

Local band Jazz Aperitif Ensemble will also be a feature of the evening, including jazz pianist Graham Muller.
