Horse day a look into our past

MICK Bradford's annual Heavy Horse Demonstration Day will once again give people of all ages a chance to take a step back in time.

This year is the 15th year that Mr Bradford has hosted the day at his Yangan property.

All money raised on the day will be donated to RACQ Careflight.

"They fly over here all the time on their way from the Gold Coast to transfer people from Warwick and other places in the Southern Downs," Mr Bradford said.

"I think they do a pretty good job."

On the day people will be able to see a local blacksmith in action, haymaking and even wheelwrighting.

The heavy horse displays will be the highlight of the day.

"The horse work takes place later in the day and people will get the chance to see them working pumpkin chopping, chaff making, corn threshing and working a water pump," Mr Bradford said.

There will be many other attractions at the charity day including snow cones, ice-cream, pancakes, damper, camp oven stews, a barbecue and sandwiches.

"We put the whole lot on," Mr Bradford said.

"There will also be a jumping castle for the kids."

The day will get underway from 9am, at Mr Bradford's property at 122 Swanfels Rd Yangan on May 3.
