Hot conditions to prevail
FINE and hot conditions are set to prevail into the weekend, with just the outside chance of some isolated thunderstorms, a The Weather Channel forecaster said last night.
The appropriately-named Kenny Heatley said it was "a hard call", given the uncertainty over movement of a trough line across Queensland.
But he said we'd be "unlucky" to see any showers or storms, but locals might disagree with the ground quickly drying out and recent crop plantings getting thirsty.
"It's looking mostly fine and we will see the warm, above-average temperatures continue into the weekend for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt," Mr Heatley said.
"There is a trough line extending from the north-west of the state through to the southern inland which makes predictions a fine line.
"There's really only a slim chance of any rain activity and that's more likely to be to the south and west, the Warrego and Maranoa."
He said maximum temperatures would most likely continue to be four to five degrees higher than average for the remainder of the week.
