Bligh's old home up for auction
POLITICAL hobbyists may be interested to learn the former home of Queensland Premier Anna Bligh will be sold under the hammer.
Number 27 Pratten St, which has been vacant for the past couple of months, will be auctioned off on Saturday, June 25.
LJ Hooker agent Justin Wynn said he was “very confident” the home would be snapped up.
“The house is absolutely massive and the owner realises the market is quite tight and has gone for auction to get it sold,” he said.
“When you’ve got a realistic vendor it’s quite easy to sell and we’ve sold three homes in a row over the past three weekends, which at this stage is not really heard of.”
Mr Wynn said the drawcard of having Ms Bligh as a former resident could also add to buyer’s interest.
“I hope it does – the home has a lot of history and good stories, but I think people need to walk in there to experience the feeling,” he said.
“It’s got a great feeling about it – you know when you walk in how homely it is.”
The owner has had the home for the past six or so years and is selling up to invest more money into a business venture.
The block is 946sqm and the home includes five-bedrooms, timber floors, new kitchen, solar hot water and a large wood heater.
Mr Wynn said there were a lot of out-of-town investors snapping up property in Warwick and said it was possible the home could go to one such buyer.
“Things have really picked up the last two weeks – it’s been our busiest fortnight in two years,” he said.
“Now the property market is so cheap, and out of town investors are picking places up front, right and centre.”
