House fire deemed suspicious

THE occupant of a Freestone home allegedly saw two men with torches and accelerants outside his window before he made his escape and the property was engulfed in flames.

The fire at 909 Freestone Rd, which happened at around midnight on Monday night, is being treated as arson.

Warwick detectives, crime scene officers, as well as an investigation team from Queensland Fire Service conducted inquiries all day yesterday and interviewed the 48-year-old occupant of the house.

Police are appealing for public assistance and ask anyone who saw suspicious movement in the area between 10pm and midnight on Monday to contact the station on 4660 4444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
